Tottenham spends $500 million this summer, but is still a club in crisis.

Tottenham Hotspur have brought in 8 new players this transfer window, at a staggering $500 million dollars, and yet the club is still in a state of disaster.

Spurs spent the second highest amount of cash this summer, only behind Chelsea, and have the highest net expenditure this summer, with Arsenal and newly promoted Ipswich Town just behind the North London club.

After getting embarrassed 3-0 away at Brentford last weekend, Newcastle United came to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and took all 3 points with a 2-0 victory. Spurs have not scored a PL goal in 2 games, only newly promoted Coventry City, Aston Villa, and Manchester United, with the latter two only playing 1 game at the time of this writing, have failed to score in a PL game already.

After two consecutive 17th place finishes, with the second of those bringing immense pressure of an actual relegation happening to a member of the "Big Six" until the final game of the season, Spurs look no more likely to avoid yet another relegation scrap.

Tottenham look disjointed, toothless in attack, and have absolutely stumbled out of the gate and early panic is already beginning to take root. Roberto De Zebri did an excellent job in steering Spurs out of the relegation positions and survive last season has tried to keep calm but the horrors of 24/25 and 25/26 are fresh in the minds of the Spurs faithful.

Three players who regularly feature in the starting XI, have also now demanded to leave the club, Richarlison, Kevin Danso, and Pape Matar Sarr before Tuesday's window closing. A huge blow for the club.

What was hoping to be a turnaround season so far, already has the feelings of yet another season of simply trying to survive. The hope of the weakness of the three newly promoted clubs could give the club a glimmer of hope. But Hull City's shocking win over Man United to start their season, Coventry City being motivated to make their first premier league season in 25 years not be a one-and-done stay in the top flight, and Ipswich Town learning from their relegation 24/25 campaign and spending a ton of money this summer to try and stay in the top flight, means the bottom 3 may resemble more of last season's dogfight scrap rather than the 24/25 season, where Tottenham stayed up by a comfortable 13 points, over now the now League One side Leicester City.

There is obviously plenty of time for Tottenham to turn things around, but if the club want to avoid another drama filled spring, they need to turn it around now, preferably before the next international break that starts on September 21st.
